Sodexo Celebrates Earth Day by reinforcing its ‘Better Tomorrow 2025’, commitment through food waste reduction in every meal

Bangkok, Thailand: Sodexo, the global leader in sustainable food and valued experiences at every moment in life from France, is celebrating Earth Day 2025 by reaffirming its ‘Better Tomorrow 2025’ commitment to environmental stewardship. The company continues to drive efforts in reducing waste at every meal, using energy and resources efficiently, and sourcing environmentally friendly ingredients sustainably.

Mr. Arnaud Bialecki, Managing Director for Southeast Asia, Sodexo, said, “Food waste is one of the most pressing global challenges, accounting for nearly half of total waste and significantly contributing to climate change. Since 2020, Sodexo has partnered with Leanpath, a global leader in food and a pioneer in food waste management solutions, to tackle food waste using cutting-edge technology and applications at our service sites. Our 'WasteLess Week' campaign further strengthens our commitment by promoting sustainable practices across all Sodexo-serviced locations. This collaboration not only helps reduce food waste but also brings economic, environmental, and social benefits on a global scale.”

This year, Sodexo teams across the region, including Thailand, have launched “Goalympics,” an internal initiative designed to achieve a 50% reduction in food waste by implementing the ‘WasteWatch’ program. This proven system has successfully tracked and minimized food waste in past years, driving impactful change.

As part of this initiative, employees from various Sodexo sites will participate in the "Zero Waste Recipe Hero" competition, creating innovative dishes that maximize ingredient use in line with the Zero Waste philosophy. Additionally, sites using the WasteWatch system will have the opportunity to compete for three major awards, which are the Veggie Savers Award – Recognizing efforts to minimize vegetable waste, the Production Protectors Award - Rewarding the reduction of food waste from production processes and the Reduction Raiders Award – Celebrating achievements in cutting waste during food preparation. 

Through Goalympics and its ongoing dedication to food waste reduction, Sodexo encourages employees to take an active role in environmental conservation and strengthens its commitment to corporate sustainability. These efforts reinforce Sodexo’s reputation as a leader in sustainable food services, ensuring that every aspect of its operations considers the planet’s well-being.
